Okinawa Prefecture is located in the southwesternmost part of Japan and consists of approximately 160 islands (48 of which are inhabited), including the main island of Okinawa. From Naha City, the capital of Okinawa Prefecture, it is more than 1,000 kilometers to Osaka and 1,500 kilometers to Tokyo.

Okinawa National College of Technology is located in Henoko, Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture, on the east coast of the northern part of Okinawa Island, about 60 kilometers from Naha City. The area north of Nago City, still rich in nature, is called “Yanbaru."

Henoko is a seaside community, and Okinawa National College of Technology is located near this community.

Transportation

When coming to the main island of Okinawa from the outside, you must first cross over to the main island. The gateway to the island is Naha Airport by air, or any of the ports on the island by boat.

There are no railroads on the island, except in some urban centers, so basic transportation is by bus. Buses stop at the “Okinawa National College of Technology Entrance” bus stop, the closest bus stop to the college, on Route 77 (between Naha Bus Terminal and Nago Bus Terminal) and Route 22 (between Akamichi Crossroads and Nago Bus Terminal).

Bus service is not convenient, and transportation system is not without obstacles. Also, there are few street lights on the road leading to the “Okinawa National College of Technology Entrance” bus stop, so please bring a flashlight or similar device when using the bus at night. When traveling by bus, check the schedule, etc. well in advance and allow ample time. If you are unsure when making plans, it may be safer to rent a car or take a taxi.
