The National Institute of Technology, Okinawa College is located in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan's southernmost island, and enjoys a mild climate throughout the year with abundant tropical sunshine, is close to the ocean and is surrounded by rich nature.
Established in 2002, the college buildings and dormitories are relatively new, and the facilities and equipment are state-of-the-art. Two courses are available: a five-year regular course and a two-year major course. International students can transfer to the third year of the five-year regular course. Learn the most advanced technology in the southernmost part of Japan and extend your dreams from Okinawa to the world!
Greetings from President
We are committed to fostering engineers with the pioneering spirit and who are trusted by others.

The National Institute of Technology, Okinawa College, the newest national college of technology, was founded in 2004 in an area rich in nature that overlooks the blue sea of Henoko and with the Yanbaru forest in the background. The college emblem depicts an image of the national college of technology located in the “deep greenery of Yanbaru in northern Okinawa Island” and the “rich blue sea,” and the circle represents the blue sky that surrounds it. Okinawa National College of Technology, which will soon celebrate its 20th anniversary, has consistently worked to train “engineers with the pioneer spirit and are trusted by people” since its foundation. The college's future-oriented educational program is based on an educational method that starts with experimentation and practical training, eventually leading the students to a logical understanding of the subject.
One attraction of the college of technology is that students can receive the same quality of education at the university level from the first year of the basic course. Many faculty members are researchers with doctoral degrees and teach not only specialized courses but also general education courses. Each professor conducts classes based on his/her own expertise and achievements in cutting-edge research. Students are taught the basics of science and engineering, innovative science and technology that is happening around them today, and future technology that will be soon become reality. Students begin their studies with experiments and practical training in the first years, and cutting-edge research in various fields are conducted as graduation research in the later years. The college implements unique initiatives such as an aeronautical engineer program, development of drones and underwater robots, and development of health foods and pharmaceuticals using Okinawa's specialty biological resources, etc. From 2022, the college has been selected as a core center for the “Society 5.0 Future Technology Human Resources Development Project (GEAR5.0)” of the Japan National College of Technology Development Organization (JNC), and has begun activities as a leader in life science research among national technical colleges. Students of Okinawa National College of Technology conduct cutting-edge practical research on the genetic information of novel coronaviruses and the function and safety of pharmaceuticals in collaboration with universities and other research institutions. Through five years of study and research activities, students acquire the engineering abilities demanded by society: the ability to discover issues on their own, to think for themselves, to form teams, to take action, and to reach conclusions. Graduates become creative engineer leaders and spread their wings throughout the world.
Another attraction of the college of technology is the wide variety of career paths available to students after graduation. Nearly 100% of students who wish to work will be employed by companies in Okinawa or another prefecture. Students who graduate from the basic course and can receive more advanced specialized technical education by enrolling in the major course that smoothly connects to the specialized education they received during the five years of the basic course. Many students then go on to graduate college. Students can also transfer to the third year of a university upon graduation. Many students seek to obtain a bachelor's degree in an environment different from that of a technical college.
Now, in response to requests from countries around the world for a college of technology in Japan, KOSEN has initiated a project in cooperation with the Japanese government to develop an educational system for overseas colleges of technology under the brand “KOSEN.” Two KOSEN colleges with five-year integrated education systems have been established in Thailand. KOSEN has also sent teachers to Thailand to contribute to the education of engineers in the country. In addition to Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, and other Asian countries, KOSEN also cooperates with Finland, New Zealand, and other countries to help students gain overseas experience and strengthen their international capabilities.
You are invited to learn the most advanced science and technology in Okinawa from the fundamentals and become a professionals who can contribute to Okinawa, Japan, and the world. Our college will assist you in achieving your dreams.
