Student Dormitory

About Okinawa National College of Technology Student Dormitory

The Okinawa National College of Technology Student Dormitory was established for students who have difficulty commuting to the college from home. Currently, about 540 of approx. 870 students enrolled in the first year of the basic course to the second year of the major course live in the dormitory, making it one of the largest technical college dormitories in Japan.

The dormitory is not only for the convenience of commuting to college, but also serves as an educational facility to “enhance learning, provide a safe and secure learning environment, and promote personal growth by helping students acquire a basic attitude toward life and social skills.

In addition, the dormitory is equipped with a variety of security equipment, including multiple security cameras and infrared sensors, and there are always two faculty members assigned to spend the night at the dormitory on a rotational basis to provide guidance to students and maintain safety.

How to select a dormitory

Due to the large number of applications for both men's and women's dormitories, and it is not always possible for students to live in the dormitories as requested.
Freshmen and sophomores are given priority, but if students in their third year or above wish to continue living in the dormitories, the dormitory committee holds a discussion to select students to be admitted each year. Permission to enter the dormitory is granted on a yearly basis.

Library

The library is an integral part of the college. Its role is to support education and research at the college.

Literature collections include specialized books and magazines on engineering and natural science along with data related to other colleges of technology, paperback books, DVDs, CD-ROMs, and audio-visual software. DVDs, CD-ROMs, and AV software can also be used in the library. The library website and library catalog is online, so books can be found over the Internet.
